Telangana activist Konda Lakshman Bapuji, who has been on a Satyagraha over the past six days at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, is planning to launch an indefinite hungerstrike if the Centre fails to give a positive response to the statehood demand. In another incident, the police on Sunday forcibly ended the indefinite strike of former Andhra Pradesh minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and shifted him to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad.
Bapuji, 97, the veteran freedom fighter, has been upset with the way the Congress leadership has ignored his Satyagraha in the Capital. “Except a few Telangana Congress leaders from the state, not a single leader from the AICC has bothered to enquire about Bapuji,” a Telangana leader said.
Bapuji is planning to convert his Satyagraha into a fast-unto-death along with one lakh people either in Hyderabad or Delhi. “He wants to take up the campaign on the lines of Anna Hazare. That looks to be the only way,” he added.
