News pulse, Politics | admin | November 4, 2011 at 4:10 amAfter a lull, the Telangana protesters were back on the roads by disrupting the second day programme of Rachabanda at various places in the Telangana region on Thursday. Shouting slogans, the agitators stopped the convoys of ministers, MLAs and MLCs demanding their resignations from their posts in support of T-cause. At some places, they laid siege to their houses.
ABVP activists along with Telangana protesters targeted the ministers’ residences and camp offices in Mahbubnagar and Medak districts. At Madugul in Mahbubnagar district, the protesters surged towards the house of Union petroleum minister S Jaipal Reddy and demanded his resignation. ABVP state executive member S Abilash termed the minister a ‘betrayer’ of Telangana.
He lambasted the minister for attending the funeral of Mahbubnagar MLA N Rajeshwar Reddy, who died here recently. “He did not bother about the funerals of 600 Telangana martyrs,” he said. The agitators shouted slogans against the minister and the Congress. Police soon came and bundled them into waiting vans.
Information minister D K Aruna’s house at Gadwal was attacked by TRS Vidyarthi members and ABVP activists, who demanded that she resign immediately for T-cause. They gatecrashed into the house. Police, who were caught napping, rushed to the spot and lifted them. The activists asked the minister not to participate in the Rachabanda programme.
“Several appeals have been made to the minister not to undermine the ongoing movement. How can she take part in a government programme which goes against the interests of four crore Telangana people,” asked K Raju, ABVP district cell member. When the protests did not subside, cops arrested around 50 activists.
In Narsapur in Medak district, women and child development minister Sunita Reddy faced the ire of the activists. The agitators rushed to the camp office of the minister, demanding her not to participate in the Rachabanda programme. They asked her to tender her resignation and take part in the people’s movement.
Police had a tough time controlling the protesters who ran across the convoys of the ministers and MLAs.
