TRS does not oppose to CBN’s T tour

KTR declared that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s Khammam district tour starting today will not be disrupted by TRS. The sudden change of heart in TRS leadership is not due to any belated feelings of democratic pangs in the separatist party, say those in the know of things.

TRS all through made it a point to physically prevent leaders of other parties, especially TDP and Jagan from making contact with the people of the region. By taking cover under ‘sons of the soil’ theory, they provoked their cadres to disrupt their meetings. In the past, the TRS rank and file created ruckus during Chadrababu tour to Telangana tours as well as Jagan’s Odarpu Yatra to Warangal. The TRS leaders openly threatened to resort to violence if Chandrababu or Jagan toured any part of Telangana.

In this backdrop, KTR’s statement has raised eyebrows. KTR justified the new stand, stating that Chandrababu and others belong to a `different state’ as far as they are concerned and hence, there is no need for them to react to their visits. However, the TRS decision reportedly was taken with an eye on future political permutations and combinations in the state. It is a known fact that TRS is cozying up to Jagan’s YSR Congress Party and kept its doors open for a future alliance with the new party.

It is to enable Jagan to resume his Odarpu yatra in Telangana region that KTR apparently showed his magnanimity. But to keep the pot boiling, the TJAC and its chairman Kodandaram gave a call to disrupt Chandrababu’s tour today. This way, TRS can keep its options open for a future stand, while those who attack Chandrababu tour can be dismissed as ‘Telangana supporters’ and not TRS activists. It is welcome that TRS will have to give up its fundamentalism for the sake of political compulsions. This way they cannot for long continue with their selective propagation of hatred.
