TRS today alleged that injustice has been done to candidates from Telangana region in the Group-I exams conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). Talking to reporters here, TRS MLA K T Rama Rao claimed that only a small number of candidates from Telangana qualified for the interviews, while those from non-Telangana regions secured a better share.

It showed the discriminatory attitude of the State Government towards Telangana, he claimed. Meanwhile, a group of candidates held a sit-in at the APPSC office here and protested against the alleged injustice done to Telugu medium candidates in the exam held some months ago. While English medium candidates did very well, their Telugu medium counterparts got a raw deal, they alleged. The APPSC, however, gave details of the number of candidates selected from each examination centre in the state, in an attempt to dispel the doubts.

While 3,184 candidates appeared for Mains in Hyderabad, 259 of them qualified for interview. In Warangal, 378 appeared and 22 qualified. In Vijayawada, 776 appeared and 40 qualified for interview. In Visakhapatnam, 886 appeared for Mains exam and 62 qualified. In Tirupati, 637 appeared for Mains in which 33 qualified for interviews. The total number of qualified candidates is 416 out of 5,861 who appeared for Mains, APPSC said in a release
